Medford wildlife control tip of the month:

Pigeon Repellent

There are several types of Medford pest control pigeon repellents people can use if they have pigeon problems. Most of them are based on placing obstacles on the places where pigeons land, like on rooftops and ends of the roof. Bird spikes are designed so that a bird cannot land on the surface. You can use spikes, or broken glass, whatever you prefer. Broken glass is usually avoided because it is not aesthetically nice to see. Birds will not be harmed when they land there, but they will avoid places with it. That will prevent them from nesting in that place.

Other Medford animal control measures people turn to are netting and bird slopes. Slopes are a slippery incline that you put on a roof and a bird cannot get a good grip when it’s landing. Taller buildings usually turn to netting because it is very effective. Another thing you can do is to put a string along the place where pigeons land because it is hard for them to keep balance once they land on it. Bird gels are also used to repel them. They are sticky and it becomes very uncomfortable for the pigeon to land on the surface where it is put. Pigeons naturally have predators. Owls and hawks usually hunt them, but it would be very impractical to get a live one. That is why Medford wildlife removal people turn to decoys, plastic or even concrete birds that can be put on roofs to scare pigeons away. The problem is that pigeons can easily get used to that scarecrow and not pay any attention to it after some time. Spices also help. Pigeons cannot stand spices, so placing crushed dried chili peppers. Problem is you have to reapply it often, so it becomes expensive. That is also temporary Medford animal trapping solution because pigeons will soon become immune to it.

Pigeon scare balloons are something to consider too. They have a reflective surface and once hanged on balconies, roofs, trees or wherever, they can be quite effective against pigeons. You can also use those party snaps. They are safe to use and when a pigeon lands on one, it will explode, thus scaring the pigeon away. This is a very cheap and efficient Medford exterminator solution. Another thing people sometimes use is motion detectors. Those devices produce an ultrasonic sound that pigeons cannot stand. Problem is that all of these solutions are very often only temporary and they are not very cheap.
