species, including squirrels, raccoons, snakes, skunks, and opossums. We also perform bat removal and bird control services, and rodent control, including poison-free mouse and
rat removal. Give us a call any time at 508-762-4388 to discuss your Woburn animal control issue, and to schedule a fast appointment.
Woburn wildlife control tip of the month:
Mole Trapping: How to Trap a Mole
When considering Woburn animal control ways to have moles under control, trapping is the most effective one. There are many ways to
trap a mole. Moles can be trapped throughout the year, but there are best times to do that. Early fall and early
spring are times when you can get the best results. Fall is good because you catch them before they go deeper underground
for the winter and spring is good because it is just before new ones are born. Mole traps work in a way that they obstruct
the tunnel entrance, so when a mole tries to clear it, it gets trapped. Woburn pest control Harpoon traps have a spring that releases when a mole
comes near it. Just place the trap above the entrance and have patience. Scissor trap works in a similar way, but instead of
placing it on the tunnel entrance, you dig it into an active tunnel. When a mole comes near it, the trap springs, killing the
mole. You just have to make sure the tunnel you are placing the trap on is an active one. You will find one easily if you see
a molehill nearby which is constantly changing. Then all you have to do is crush a small section of the tunnel, place a Woburn wildlife removal trap
there and wait for the mole to try and reopen the tunnel. If you crush too much of the tunnel, the mole will just dig deeper.
Also, have in mind that only one trap is not enough. You should place at least three traps to make sure you catch one.
There is another Woburn animal trapping thing you have to be careful about. Moles have a very proficient sense of smell, so when you are placing a
trap, you should handle it with gloves so that you do not leave your smell on the trap. The trick with traps is that they obstruct
the airflow in the tunnels, so a mole has to reopen them. Live trapping is another thing one should consider. When doing so, you have
to dig a deep hole below their tunnels and put a 2-5 gallon bucket in it. Then you should pack dirt around the edges and cover the hole
with plywood or sod. Once the mole falls into the Woburn exterminator trap, you can easily carry it to another location far from your yard. Nevertheless,
spring traps have proven to be the most effective solution to the problem.
